It has been a busy couple of months for Our Haven Wildlife Shelter operator Theresa Matthews and her husband Tony, who have been caring for an average of 11 kangaroo and wallaby joeys.
A wildlife rescue and care volunteer of five years, Theresa officially qualified to operate a shelter last year, enabling her to take other volunteer carers under her wing while she continues to respond to call-outs to care for the region’s orphaned and injured wildlife.
Theresa is currently caring for nine eastern grey kangaroo joeys, a pinky wallaby joey and a feisty pigmy possum.
